Lucy Simms is a forever evolving artist whose works ranges from rough and rustic sketch watercolours to hairpin detailed acrylic labours of love. Lucy has recently taken up mural art and has created an impressive new mural in Queenscliff, a dedication to Melbourne Demons captain Max Gawn.
Lucy is originally from Point Lonsdale, located on the beautiful Surf Coast of Victoria. Her life growing up revolved around the beach and sport; a nipper, surf life saver, swimmer and surfer. Lucy has always had a passion for colour and creativity, studying graphic design through all her schooling years. Lucy’s art journey has ebbed and flowed over the years. However, a recent stint whilst living in Noosa provided inspiration for new learnings, new mediums and freedom to create without any of life’s pressures.
Lucy’s art has grown and changed as she has in her personal life, yet a constant has remained, that is all her pieces are inspired by things that she loves. You will tend to see these recurring themes through her pieces; the ocean, sport, athletes, coffee, pop stars and animals. Her works typically evolve from photographs taken by herself or others, each growing into its own form; an experimentation striving for the perfect combination of colour, pop and scale.
